developing an appropriate model for academic guidance of high school students

this aper is concerned with the issue of academic guidance of high school students in iran, the present processes of academic guidance in new system of high school rely on criteria and indices that, the usefulness of some of which seriously in doubt. in this artic le. awhile the criteria and indices of current practices are criticized. an attempt has also been made to predict academic achievement of students at the end of high school year based on their previous performance. to do this. academic records of 1063 graduate s from the new system of high schools in the city of naeen were reviewed. and relevant data were collected utilizing multiregrassion analyses, appropriate model of academic guidance for high school students were developed . our findings indicate that previous academic performance of students by itself, can explain significant proportion of student achievement at the end of high school year. thus. it can be used as a useful predictive model for academic guidance of students by school counselors.
